Simon Fraser University -Canada

Named after explorer Simon Fraser, SFU opened on September 9, 1965. Taking only 30 months to grow from the idea stage into an almost-completed campus with 2,500 students it was dubbed the “Instant University”. Just over 40 years later SFU has over 25,000 students and 90,000 alumni, and more than 700 tenure-track faculty. The original campus has grown into three vibrant campuses in Burnaby, Vancouver and Surrey and SFU' s reputation has grown into one of innovative teaching, research, and community outreach. The university is composed of 6 faculties across 3 campuses in Burnbay, Vancouver and Surrey.

The different faculties are:

  • Faculty of Applied Sciences
  • Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences
  • Faculty of Business Administration
  • Faculty of Education
  • Faculty of Health Sciences
  • Faculty of Science

There are distance-education, co-operative education and graduate studies offering graduate diploma, M.A. and doctorate degrees form an integral part of the university. The university with its boarding facilities spread across the 3 campuses gives a wide range of accommodation for the students to choose from. SFU Library the best one can get receives its funding from scholarly publishing projects. With the grants totaling more than $60 million SFU researchers are establishing or strengthening programs in areas facing the most pressing social demand. There is Entrance scholarships for outstanding students to give them more encouragement. The students enjoy the friendly atmosphere of the university and grow up to be responsible individuals.
