Founded in 1992, Swansea Institute of Higher Education (SIHE), University of Wales is primarily located in two campuses in Swansea, South Wales. The Institute is dedicated to serving the society and preserving liaison with the private and public sectors of the industry.
Swansea Institute of Higher Education offers a whole range of undergraduate and postgraduate full-time and part-time courses through the following faculties:
- Faculty of Applied Design and Engineering: This faculty offers subjects ranging from Automotive Engineering to Multimedia.
- Faculty of Art and Design: This Faculty provides courses on Art, Craft, Design and Media education.
- Faculty of Humanities: The Swansea Business School, the School of Education, the School of Health Science, the School of Humanities and the Performing Arts and the School of Leisure, Tourism and Recreation Management are all under this Faculty.
Students at Swansea Institute are entitled to two bursaries from 2007. The first is an amount to the limit of £300 per annum that will be granted according to the student's financial status. The second is a non-income tested bursary of £500 per annum for students residing at a distance that exceeds 45 miles from the Institute's Mount Pleasant campus.
Student Support
The Library of the Institute houses a vast collection of electronic resources which comprise subject indexes, research abstracts, newspaper clippings and periodicals. The Library also sells CD-ROMs, videotapes, batteries, computer disks, etc.
