Syracuse University Online

Syracuse University at a glance

* Institution type: private university
* Year founded: 1870
* Religious affiliation: None
* Academic calendar: standard academic semester, but some accelerated classes are available
* U.S. News Ranking: Ranked #50 in the National Universities category

Ranked at number 50 in the nation among national universities, Syracuse offers a quality education… but at a price. With undergraduate tuition running $550 per credit hour, you may be maxing out student loans to finance your education. That said, if your employer offers tuition reimbursement, it may help to know that Syracuse will defer your tuition payments until approximately 30 calendar days before the end of the University’s official semester end date. If your employer is like mine, they may not reimburse you until grades are posted, so this deferral may not help much. Syracuse University Online program format Although Syracuse’s online classes may be completed primarily online, each program has a short residency requirement that must be fulfilled; this requirement varies by program. For example, the B.A. in Liberal Studies requires students to attend the campus for one weekend at the beginning of the semester. Since the residency requirement is just one weekend per term, it should have a minimal impact on your work schedule and personal life. Although this might seem to be a bit of an inconvenience, Syracuse’s comments on the subject say it best, short residency requirements are “a great way to immerse yourself in the college experience for three days and return home with friendships, contacts, and a lot more knowledge”. Basically, you get to have the flexibility of online classes, but you have the opportunity to feel connected with the university as a whole.(1) Syracuse University Online Degrees: Undergraduate Degrees/Certificates

Schools and colleges will consult evaluation guidelines of the American Council on Education and the Council for Advancement of Experiential Learning.” (3) Exams Syracuse grants AP and CLEP credit, but the amount of credit varies, and not all exams yield credit.
