National Economic University Hanoi

National Economic University Hanoi was established on 25th January, 1956 by Decree No. 678-TTg of the Prime Minister. The college of Finance and Economics was the forerunner of this university. It operated within the Vietnam People's University System. The name was changed into the University of Finance and Economics on May 22, 1958. It functioned under the supervision of the Ministry of Education.

National Economic University Hanoi was again renamed as the University of Economics and Planning in January 1965. By the Decision No. 1443/Q-KH the Minister of Higher and Secondary Vocational Education changed the name into “National Economic University” on October 22, 1985. It is one of the six leading universities of the country.

National Economic University of Hanoi was assigned three major roles in1989 such as to offer business education in the undergraduate and postgraduate level, to act as the consultant to the Government of Vietnam on macro-economic policy and to provide management training for managers of private as well as state sectors.

Presently Hanoi National Economic University serves as the center for economic research, consulting as well as transfer of economic and business management technology and the largest producer of economic and business managers. It aims to become a well equipped modern university by 2010.
